Status 15th JWM 2025 in Doha and resulting request to the IJMC country Reps

 Hamburg, September 6th, 2024

Dear country Reps,

At the AGM 2024, Qatar was selected by an overwhelming majority of the country Reps as the next host for the 15th IJMC JWM.
Following this decision the Qatar organisation committee was entrusted to organize this event in the QRCSC Doha in 2025.

Unfortunately, and the IJMC Board deeply regrets this, the organizing committee has not yet received until now a final commitment from the Ministry of Sports and Youth to host and support the IJMC JWM. In a reply dated September 3, 2024, the IJMC Board was given three reasons for the lack of confirmation.

1. The recent change in the Minister of Sports & Youth required the Orga team to resubmit the plans to newly convince the new minister of the merits of such an event
2. The summer period slowed down the decision process
3. The IJMC JWM 2025 is one of three major topics under discussion of a pending funding request

Meanwhile from the AGM 2024 until today, the IJMC Board has worked intensively with the Organizing Committee in Doha to advance the preparations for the 15th JWM and the presentation to the Ministry to such an extent that hosting the JWM can be realized without risk in the remaining time frame.

In a comprehensive assessment of the status of the preparations and consideriung the delays that will most likely continue to accumulate, the IJMC Board has come to the conclusion that the organization and staging of the JWM in 2025 is therefore at great risk.
To allow our RC Scale Jet pilots appropriate planning security for the year 2025, the IJMC Board has decided to investigate an alternative solution for the organization of the 15th JWM or an adequate downsized IJMC RC Jet Scale Competition Masters.

To be more than clear and once again correctly summarize the facts of the matter regarding the hosting of the 15th JWM in Qatar/Doha, the IJMC Board does not override the decision of the country representatives from the AGM 2024 with this procedure and thus does not ultimately cancel the JWM in Doha.
If the organizing committee in Doha presents a trustworthy recovery plan with all required deliverables by the AGM 2025, the country representatives will decide at the next AGM whether all requirements have been met and the event might take place as planned in 2025.
In the meantime, however, the IJMC Board will focus on investigating an alternative solution in order to be able to offer an appropriate IJMC RC Jet Scale competition in 2025.

To develop such an alternative solution, the IJMC Board needs the proactive cooperation of the country representatives. Therefore, I would like to make an urgent appeal to you to consider the possibility of organizing a JWM or a simplified RC Scale competition in your home country and organized clubs. In the remaining time window from today until the date of the event, we would have about one year of preparation time left, which we must use intensively and effectively.
Please let us know as soon as possible if there are any opportunities in your countries, which we can then take forward with you on the IJMC Board, hopefully with a positive outcome.

The entire IJMC Board deeply regrets the developments in Doha, but in the interests of the IJMC and planning security for our pilots and supporters, we must objectively assess the facts and therefore ask you for this proactive and short-term support.

Sincerely Yours,

Frank Dohrmann
IJMC Chairmann
